Introduction

DS Video Player (“the App”) is developed by Dev Shujon. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use it on your Android device.

DS Video Player is designed as a local-first media player. Your video, audio, and photo library remain on your device. We do not operate servers that store your personal media collection.

Information We Collect

We do not collect personal media files from your device on our own servers. The App may process the following locally on your device:

• Media file metadata (title, path, duration) for library indexing
• Playback history, favorites, playlists, and resume positions
• Private Vault encryption metadata and PIN/biometric preferences
• Premium entitlement tokens cached in secure storage after purchase

Device Permissions

The App requests Android permissions only to provide its features. You may deny permissions, but related features will not work until granted.

Media Library Access

On Android 13+, the App requests granular media permissions (READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, READ_MEDIA_IMAGES). On older versions, storage read permission may be used.

Notification Permission

On Android 13+, the App may request notification permission to show background audio playback controls and media notifications.

Private Vault

Private Vault encrypts selected media files locally using AES-256-GCM encryption.

Important: When you choose “Move to Private Vault”, the App encrypts the file and, after encryption succeeds, permanently deletes the original from device storage.

Vault access is protected by a PIN you create and optional biometric unlock. PIN data is stored as a hash in Android secure storage.

Google AdMob

The free tier displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as Advertising ID) and usage data to serve and measure ads. Premium subscribers do not receive ads.

Where required by law (including the EEA/UK), the App uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to collect ad consent before serving personalized ads.

Google Play Billing

Premium purchases and subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles payment information. We receive purchase tokens to verify entitlement on your device. We do not receive your credit card details.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not upload your media files to our servers.

Security

We use industry-standard practices for local storage, including secure storage for vault credentials and encrypted vault files. Protect your device with a screen lock and keep your vault PIN confidential.

Your Rights

• Revoke permissions anytime in Android Settings
• Uninstall the App at any time
• Export or delete Private Vault content within the App

Children’s Privacy

DS Video Player is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date reflects the latest revision.
